Students who complete the course should be able to:
- Summarize the physical processes by which clouds are formed and hydrometeors are produced in convective storms and weather systems
- Generalize those principles and apply them to meteorological scenarios in which heavy rain occurs
- Compare and contrast the ways in which meteorology and hydrology interact during flood events
- Critique our historical ability to estimate and to forecast rainfall
- Analyze the strengths and weaknesses of our current hydrometeorological observing systems
- Appraise the evolving role that polarimetric radar plays in our measurement and estimation of rainfall
